El Fandango Restaurant Haunting

Haunted by the spirit of a woman in white seen near the door as well as other places in the restaurant, she is believed to have been Senora Maria Antonia Machado de Silva. Her spirit has been seen rushing towards the flagpole in the center of the Old Town square on many occasions. During the Yankee invasion of California which was then Mexican territory, Senora Machado de Silva was believed to have taken down the Mexican flag to protect it from the grubbing gringo hands. At the time of the invasion the flag rested on the same flagpole in the center of Old Town.
